Born in Rome in 1984, Sesto Quatrini has an extensive and impressive range of experience for such a young composer and conductor. Already he has set himself apart with his compositions, commitment to furthering classical and contemporary music and breadth of talent.
In the season 2015-2016 he has been cover conductor in Puccini’s Manon Lescaut and in Donizetti’s Roberto Devereux respectively for the maestros Luisi and Benini, at the NYC’s Metropolitan Opera House. In the summer 2015 and 2016 Sesto Quatrini has been the assistant and cover conductor for Maestro Luisi at the 41st and 42nd Festival della Valle d'Itria respectively in the Mayr’s opera Medea in Corinto, in Mozart’s Così fan tutte and in Mercadante’s Francesca da Rimini.
In september 2014, he debuted La Traviata at the Theatre de l'Athenée in Paris; in april 2015 he conducted La Traviata in a new production of the Teatro Vespasiano of Rieti and in may 2015 he debuted the Ravel’s opera L'Enfant et les Sortileges and the Debussy’s cantata L'Enfant Prodigue in New York City with Bare Opera, which appointed him as its new Principal Conductor.
In october 2015 he debuted Verdi’s Rigoletto at Théâtre de la Port Saint-Martin in Paris and in november he debuted the Granados’ spanish opera Goyescas in NYC.
Under his baton, he has lead the Orchestra dei “Pomeriggi Musicali” of Milan, Orchestra Sinfonica Abruzzese, Orchestra Verdi of Milan, Camerata "C. Monteverdi", Danish National Symphony Orchestra, Cyprus Symphony Orchestra, ARTeM Orchestra, Orchestra Filarmonica Centro d’Italia, Atlanta Chamber Orchestra, Macon Symphony, Gwinnett Symphony Orchestra, Malaysian Philarmonic Orchestra, Orchestra ICO della Magna Grecia, Orchestra Internazionale d'Italia, Les Voix Concertantes in Paris, Bare Opera in New York City.
In 2013, he won the “ICWC- International Conducting Workshop and Competition” in Georgia (U.S.A.), the 3rd prize in the "Solon Michaelides" International Competition for Young Conductors in Nicosia (Cyprus) - debuting with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra where he returned invited by the orchestra for a tour to the island during the season 2014-15 - and was also awarded the Petrolini Prize, recognizing achievements in the arts.
Among his future engagements: with the Orchestra Sinfonica Abruzzese during the next seasons he will appear both in symphonic and lyric repertoires; a Carmen’s new stanging by Allex Aguilera and Il Trovatore in Perpignan at the Nuits de Salses (2017-2019); the “Concerto del Belcanto” in the Festival della Valle d’Itria 2016 with the Orchestra Internazionale d’Italia and with the bariton Massimo Cavalletti and mezzo Aya Wakizono; a new production of Rossini’s La Cambiale di Matrimonio with Bare Opera in NYC; Gala tour with the soprano Kristine Opolais in Latvia an Lithuania with the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra and the Lithuanian National Opera Orchestra; a Gala Concert with the Tenor Roberto Alagna in Santo Domingo; another Gala Concert with Kristine Opolais in Portorico, and others.
Maestro Quatrini is acting as Principal Guest Conductor of the Orchestra Sinfonica Abruzzese, as Musical Director of the lyric company and orchestra Les Voix Concertantes de Paris, as Bare Opera’s Principal Conductor and, lately, as Music Director of the newest operatic Festival Nuits de Salses in France.
As a composer, several of his works have achieved impressive recognition and exposure in the classical community: Concerto per violino e orchestra (Auditorium Parco della Musica, Rome), his pocket-opera Il Filosofo (Auditorium Parco della Musica, Rome), Ludus in nomine Johannis Sebastiani (Piccola Orchestra ‘900), Trio (Auditorium Goethe Institut of Rome), Tristes erant apostoli... op.1 (I Solisti Aquilani), Sinfonietta op.21 (Orchestra “Città Aperta”), Controcanto (featured on the official CD along with chamber music of Elliott Carter), Sonata per pianoforte a 4 mani (Cantiere musica), Three music suggestions (Verona, Trento, Riva del Garda, Brescia), and Miniature Concertanti (Auditorium E. Morricone, Rome).
